WHAT I WON – ANOTHER MONTH OF COMPING
It’s the start of another month, which means yet another review of another month of comping! For those of you that are new to the blog I’m a comper. You can read more about my comping and why I do it here. But the short story is that after having to quit work due to keep up with my sons additional needs I needed to find something that meant we could still afford the nicer things in life!
A BUNDLE OF CHROMA STATIONERY
Well technically I won this lovely bundle in April. But as the bundle was won on the 30th of April after I had published my last blog post it’s made its way here instead! This was a simple RT to win on twitter ran by Chroma stationery as part of National Stationery week.
GLITTER LIPS MAKEUP BUNDLE
A quick and easy RT to win ran by Glitter Lips on Twitter. I am in love with how sparkly the glitter lips kit leaves my lips! This was a really generous prize filled with lots of goodies
STAR WARS MINI TEA CADDY AND TEA
I entered so many Star Wars day competitions on May the 4th it was silly. I found this one myself with a quick twitter search.
A PACK OF ORGANIC TEA
A simple RT to win on twitter ran by the English Tea Shop. It’s a really nice massive tin of organic tea (72 sachets!). There was loads of winners for this one, a really generous competition!
STAR WARS NEW HOPE LIMITED EDITION DVD
I spotted this comp on my facebook news feed ran by Music Magpie. This was a really fun (and difficult!) comp to do. Clues were given and you had to find the star wars logos hidden in the shop portion of their website. The clues were actually really hard. coupled with some awful meta data in their search engines this meant there wasn’t a huge amount of entries. A special thank you to my comping buddy Neill from Gary Wasabi’s Golden Luck Muscle for helping me with some of the answers!!
AMAZING LASHES EYELASH BUNDLE
A really easy like and comment on facebook. This competition was listed on competition database. I do love fake lashes and was really pleased when these turned out to be super comfy!
STAR WARS SOFT TOY
Another Star Wars Day competitions win. This was an effort competition ran by Hollywood bowl on their facebook page. I found this whilst searching for star wars day competitions. Yu had to upload a picture of yourself doing your best wookie impression. The 1st place prize was a Chewbacca mask and then 10 runners-up would receive a Star Wars plush toy. We were one of the runners-up. You can see our clip of our entry here on my instagram. See if you can spot the plush we won on one of my recent blog posts!
LIMITED EDITION ANIMAL WATCH
On tweet deck I have a special column dedicated to finding Instagram competitions. Searching for competitons directly on Instagram can be difficult as you can only search for one hash tag at a time. One evening I found a competition that was about to close ran by Animal UK. They wanted to see your throwback looks from the 80s and 90s as the were celebrating their 30th anniversary. I won with this absolute gem of a 90s look
There really wasn’t many entries when I entered. Most of the other entries were not full length shots of clothes either. I got a message the next morning say I was their first weeks winner. I love that they sent me a lollipop with my prize too.
PS4 PRO CONSOLE
If you read my blog regularly you might be thinking why on earth do you need another PS4?!!! Well this isn’t just any Playstation, it’s the Pro version. It has a whopping 1TB drive and has far superior graphics and shorter loading times than the original PS4. I regularly check the Playstation UK twitter feed and noticed they were running a competition called #PreyForPro. Prey is a new game just released on Playstation and the demo was available in the PS store. To enter you had to download the demo and play it. You then had to share a video of you playing the demo to twitter using the hashtag.
I carefully checked the terms and conditions and it turns out it was a judged competition. Winners would be selected based on the originality and humor they uploaded, picked by a panel of judges from Playstation as well as MVPs from the Playstation community. Gaming and making videos are two things that I love. Lots of people just uploaded straight up footage of them playing. I went a step further and use some free Playstation software to fully edit my video. You can see my winning entry here. This was a really generous competition, it ran for 7 days and there was a PS4 Pro given away every day of the competition.
2 MONTH NOW TV MOVIE PASS
My husband has been surprising me every now and then by winning prizes. obviously my comping is rubbing off on him. This was won from the Snatch app
3 PACK OF RUNNING SOCKS
Another completely random competition I found using tweetdeck. This was ran by Inter Sport on National Lost Sock Day. There were asking you to reply with where you found your lost sock. A lot of the answers I felt were quite boring so I decided to tell them i found my lost sock at the kebab shop, i then included a GIF of a group of socks having a night out on the town!
HAIR HEAT TREAT TREATMENT PACK
A simple RT to win ran by Freemans on Twitter.
BABY BRUSH PACK
Ts was part of National Smile Month. Another very low entry competition I found using tweetdeck. Baby Brush asked for a reply to their tweet with a dentist based joke. Mine was ‘what does the dentist of the year get?, A little plaque!’
ARSENAL MASCOT EXPERIENCE AT THE FA CUP FINAL
This prize deserves its very own blog post which you can read here! This was a once in a lifetime experience for my son Chase. I almost didn’t enter because I thought they wouldn’t pick him because of his disability or I’d have no chance of winning because he wouldn’t be able to create an entry to the same level as the other entrants. How wrong was I! The prize also included 2 nights stay in a very posh London hotel and tickets to the match. This is my favourite prize win to date EVER.
FITBIT FLEX 2
Simply health on facebook regularly run month-long competitions with prizes available every day. These are very popular well-known competitions but I still enter anyway. I was really surprised to discover I was selected their winner on Day 27!
STAR WARS PERFUME
Another Star Wars Day win! I received a lovely bunch of sample size Star Wars perfume from Keep Me fragrances. This was a twitter competition were they asked to see your Star Wars pictures.
BEADOS REFILL SET
A simple RT to win ran by Toy Seek on Twitter. I cannot find my prize photo for the life of me so here it is on Twitter!
COMICCON WEEKEND PRIORITY TICKETS, AND COMICON PRIORITY TICKETS
We’ve been wanting to go to ComicCon with the kids for ages. To be perfectly honest I’ve been worried about paying out a tonne of money just for the kids to wander round bored whilst I run around getting my geek on. I was thrilled to win a pair of tickets with Forbidden planet on twitter. (I found the competition thanks to one of my trusty tweetdeck searches).
A few days later my husband totally surprised me by informing me he had won a set of weekend priority passes with Sandisk on Facebook! I hadn’t even found that competition when I was looking. The Sandisk competition was asking entrants who did they want to see win the Hearthstone tournament finals that were being held at ComicCon. Amazingly not a single entry was actually the name of anyone in the tournament. The first person had randomly put Duncan and everyone else has copied the answer.Dan was the only person who actually named someone who was playing in the tournament so Sandisk awarded the prize to him! This meant we was able to attend the whole weekend and take Dan’s older kids with us to. We had such a blast at ComicCon that it got its own deidcated blog post!
SODA STREAM BUNDLE
Let this be a lesson to actually read what you’re entering! I was rushing through a list of competitons I had found on tweetdeck. I won a lovely bunch of Soda Stream drinks….the problem being I don’t yet own a Soda Stream! Hoping to win one by the end of the year if I can.
IPAD AIR2 32GB
At the start of the year I set myself a challenge to try to not buy anymore toiletries unless I really neeed them. In one of my competition groups I saw someone had posted a competition that was being ran by Poundland in conjunction with Alberto Balsam. You had to go to Poundland and buy 2 Alberto Balsam Blends shampoos and then send a text to enter. The closing date went and passed and in the middle of May winners were notified (I wasn’t one of them).
At the very end of May I got a telephone call telling me I had been selected as one of the ipad winners! I think it’s likely that one of the winners drawn at the middle of the month wasn’t able to provide proof of purchase. Proof of purchase was necessary as part of the terms and conditions to be able to receive your prize in this competition. Keeping all your receipts relating to comping for a year is a wise move as you never know when things might get drawn late or re-drawn.
I did have one more big win this month but it’s not strictly a competition win. I also have got to wait for full confirmation of it. So I’m not including it here but hopefully will be able to reveal all in next months blog post.
This has been my most successful comping month to date winning over £2000 worth of prizes as well as a money can’t buy experience. I don’t think I can see anything topping seeing Chase on the pitch at the FA Cup Final ever. How did your month go, did you have any amazing wins? Let me know in the comments below!
