It’s the start of another month, which means yet another review of another month of comping! For those of you that are new to the blog I’m a comper. You can read more about my comping and why I do it by clicking the link. But the short story is that after having to quit work due to keep up with my sons additional needs I needed to find something that meant we could still afford the nicer things in life!
November was my most successful comping month so far this year – unfortunately the biggest of all the prizes I won still haven’t arrived so will be featuring in December’s unboxing instead. Even with that though I received some brilliant wish list prizes this month!
I carried on clearing as much of competition database as I could this month to get ready for the advent competitions. I’ve been quite selective to manage to keep the listings pretty much clear at the end of everyday. I’ve also dedicated half an hour on most days to both instagram and twitter comping, looking for my own competitions. Once a week if i remember I’ve been searching via tweetdeck to find some low entry, local events and creative competitions. I don’t always find competitions that I want to enter but always find something that others may want to.
This month’s unboxing stats sees 10 prizes opened worth approximately £1386. That’s almost less than halve the number of last months prizes but worth even more in value. Two of my prizes I unboxed where items from my wishlist which makes it even better, with perseverance it’s possible to win your most wanted items!
It was a real mixed bag of where i won this month, there was a purchase necessary, two judged effort competitions, one that required collection of the prize locally and one that needed a specific photo of an advert only in London to enter. The majority of these wins though this month required entry via instagram – making Instagram my most successful comping platform this month
Either watch the video to see what we unboxed and where we won it from or if you’re short on time just have a read below about what we won!
The Judged Effort Competition Wins
Remember my spooky halloween photos from last month? My picture of Brooke as a goblin witch gained my a 3 month subscription service to GlossyBox! This was a judged effort competition which i submitted on Twitter.
My halloween face painting skills also won my choice of Illumi mates, which is a perfect present to stash away for christmas!
My next judged effort competition came from Eurogamer on Twitter, courtesy of Nintendo UK. With the release of Mario Party on the Nintendo Switch they wanted to see your Nintendo Switch party photos. The prize was a Mario Party bundle including a Nintendo Switch and extra controllers. It seemed a little weird that to win a Nintendo Switch you had to already own a Nintendo Switch but this was because Nintendo wanted to show how you could link two switches up together and have up to 8 people playing across 2 consoles.
We rounded everyone up and grabbed some photos of us playing on our Nintendo Switch, Nintendo themselves judged the competition and we were told they loved out photo and picked us as winners! An additional console has been on my wish list for a while, having up to 7 of us in the household means that more of us can now play together!
The ‘Had to Leave the House to Enter’ competition wins
First up a win from an Instagram photo. Goddiva wanted to see your selfies with their adverts across the London tube network. As I was already in London attending Stylist Live with tickets I won I managed to snap and upload a picture to Instagram – the prize was the dress from the advert, worth a whopping £89. If you watch the video you’ll see there is a slight issue with my dress though……
Next up a purchase necessary competition from Waitrose. Anyone who purchased a Paul Hollywood baking kit and entered their receipt details online was in for the chance of winning two spaces worth £200 at a Waitrose cookery school Paul Hollywood baking themed class. I was drawn as one of the lucky winners and cannot wait to get baking!
Finally a competition that I entered from the comfort of my own home but had to travel to pick up the prize. Mi Store in London ran a twitter competition to win a brand new phone, a Pocophone F1. A newer faster phone has been on my wishlist for a few months now and I couldn’t believe it when I was announced as the winner. It’s taking a while to get used to Android but as my step daughter is a pro at it I’ve had plenty of help to get used to it.
Other prizes unboxed this month are
- £50 worth of board games, Like and comment on Instagram
- A £150 spend at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Regent Street, Like and comment on Instagram
- A nordic serving board, like and comment on Instagram
- Willow and Wild Activity Box, Like and comment, Instagram
- £100 cash, Facebook like and comment
I can’t believe we have reached the last month of the year already. The advents are starting and there will be an unbelievable amount of competitions to enter this month. I wish you all a buttload of festive luck and I can’t wait to share my annual yearly comping review with you in the New Year! Are you advent comping this year? what’s your strategy going to be?
December’s unboxing already has a huge head start with prizes over the value of this months unboxing on their way. Well here’s hoping they actually turn up!
