WHAT I WON – ANOTHER MONTH OF COMPING
It’s the start of another month, which means yet another review of another month of comping! For those of you that are new to the blog I’m a comper. You can read more about my comping and why I do it here. But the short story is that after having to quit work due to keep up with my sons additional needs I needed to find something that meant we could still afford the nicer things in life!
Every month for the past three months I’ve been able to say I’ve had my most succesful month yet. Well this shows no signs of letting up. June was my most successful month comping to date, I won prizes worth over £4000! This is a huge amount and although the value of prizes doesn’t fully matter it certainly does make me feel motivated to carry on entering when I have dry spells. This month was the first time I made it on to a radio station to win a prize; not one but twice! Read on to discover what I won and how I won it
My first win of the month was a copy of Pink Magazine. I won this from the Pink Facebook page where you had to post what you’d been up to so far this spring/summer. ALthough this seems like a small prize they do regularly have fab entry form only comps in this magazine. We’ve already sent our entry form off. If we’re super lucky then we will win a prize from a prize!
This was from the Strongbow epic festival entrance competition. This is a purchase necessary competition with lots of prizes up for grabs. If you enter you’ve got a really good chance of winning at least a small prize. You can find more details on blogger Super Lucky Di’s site here.
Lego Nexo Knights Book Bundle
I have no idea where all these fab books came from! They arrived addressed to Chase so my guess is an email entry kids comp. I’ve searched for the original competition but cannot find it anywhere!
Feather & Black Sienna Rattan Kingsize bed
I couldn’t believe it when this email came through at the start of the month. We’ve been wanting to upgrade to a king size bed for ages and had ended up buying a mega cheap second-hand bed off eBay as our current bed was broken. I carried on entering bed competitions in the hope i might be able to win a nice one and hit the bed jackpot! Our new bed is over £1300 RRP to buy and made of solid weathered oak. It’s a gorgeous bed and I can’t wait for its delivery in July!
Glo Minerals Tinted Primer
£500 cash and a Samsung Galaxy S8 plus
My first ever radio win! This was won with Heat radio and i found the competition using tweet deck. They were uploading mini clips earlier in the day for you to watch and then on the early evening show about 5pm asking people to call in and answer a question. I managed to get through and be selected to be on air and got the answer correct! You can listen to my first ever radio win here!
Olympus Pen P8
I found this competition thanks to Di Coke (the owner of the Super Lucky Blog). This was a competition for bloggers. You had to use the new Million Eyez photo website to put a photo into a blog post to enter. There were then multiple other entry options and I decided to enter all ways I could. This included writing a new blog post and posting a photobox I created from their website. There was one entry option which got you a whopping 20 extra entries into the competition which I managed to complete which I think helped a lot to me winning this fab prize. I’m looking forward to taking some amazing shots with this camera in the months to come.
Bondi Beach Goody bag
Another fairly low entry comp I found on twitter – although it was actually an instagram comp. A picture with cut out faces was given to you to put you and your friends faces in and then post to instagram with the relevant hashtag. The amin prize was a holiday which I didn’t win but I did win one of the 20 runners up prizes.
England V West Indies Cricket tickets
This was a promotion ran by Hardys wine. I cannot remember for the life of me where I found it. A simple prize draw netted me two tickets to see England vs the West indies later this year.
Two Star Wars 40th Anniversary figures
My husband was sooo happy when these arrived. especially as I hadn’t told him they were arriving. These were won with a RT comp on twitter ran by Sky Cinema. I didn’t get to choose out figures but was really happy when I saw we received Princess Leia and Obi Won Kanobi.
£250 B&Q gift card
My second radio win of the month! This time with Virgin radio. I’d spotted this comeptition on my tweetdeck filters but had forgotten about it until one of my very good comping friends (Emma) reminded me about it. You had to pre register on their website to take part. On friday early evening I received a call saying I’d been selected and the presenter would be calling me tomorrow morning to go head to head with another contestant. We had to answer questions about famous fathers.
How i wished I’d been given here questions instead of mine! It ended in a draw and went to a tiebreaker. The tiebreaker question was how many daughters did King Triton have in Ariel the little mermaid. The other contestant went first and guessed 2. I thought it was more than this and I was right – he actually has 7! I think I was even more nervous doing this show as it was live on air!
£100 worth of little tyke toys
This was a fab little win on Facebook. I entered the night before closing and you tell them about your child’s hero. It was close to Father’s day at the time so obviously all of our kids hero is their Dad. I used one of my fave pictures below and was selected as their winner!
Fathers Day Hamper
My last prizes of the month was not one but two coffee machines. A Tassimo machine from the purchase necessary Belvita competition, and then a like and comment on Facebook with Genesis UK. The second machine is a Nespresso one so we can now use both types of pod!
I cannot believe how many great prizes I’ve had come through this month. Persistance with comping certainly pays off as well trying new things (like radio comps!). I also have some exciting news to share about Mr Glam & Geeky. He was selected by crunchy nut to participate in there Ultimate Crunchy Nutter Competition. He’s up to London next week to be filmed to take part in ‘The Table Of Doom’. Look out for him on their social media page, or follow my Facebook page here for updates!
If you’d like to get to know a little bit more about how I got into comping you can check out my interview here with my witty blogger friend Neill over at his blog ‘Gary Wasabi’s Golden Luck Muscle’. How did you do this month? Are any of my readers thinking of taking up comping as a hobby? comment below!
