APRIL PRIZE UNBOXING UPDATE
It’s the start of another month, which means yet another review of another month of comping! For those of you that are new to the blog I’m a comper. You can read more about my comping and why I do it here. But the short story is that after having to quit work due to keep up with my sons additional needs I needed to find something that meant we could still afford the nicer things in life!
You might be thinking I made an error in my blog post title. Unfortunately I haven’t and this month I present an un-unboxing post to you. What’s an un-unboxing I hear you say, well that’s what happens when you manage to delete your entire unboxing video by mistake. So here we are with my monthly blog post of prizes I’ve unboxed but no video to accompany. You can at least feel safe in the knowledge that you have been saved from hearing Dan, Brooke and myself sing an entire section of our unboxing video (yes that actually happened).
I’ve had an excellent month with 23 prizes arriving worth a combined total of approximately £1150. This was despite taking a short break from comping. I’ve definitely not been as active as I usually have but have strived to make sure I check for prizes I really want regularly. This has meant ticking some prizes off my wish list this month.
When you read through where I won my prizes from you will notice there’s a much larger number of wins from Instagram than previously. I’ve been spending a bit more time entering competitions on instagram this month and it has paid off. I have still been using twitter – I highly recommend using twitter to search for instagram competitions. Simply search ‘instagram win’ on twitter and check out the results. For more tips on finding competitions check out my handy twitter search guide to help find competitions closing soon.
Prizes received this month
A pair of custom Made pants
Yep custom-made pants are a thing! I was actually nominated by a comping friend to receive these and was lucky enough to win! The print of the fabric is fab and they are so comfy. This was a Facebook competition ran by Crease Free Clothes
This gorgeous snood was won from IndependantSouls on Instagram. It was a like and comment and there was only 5 entries! There was a bit of an issue with getting the prize delivered (postal services fault) but the lovely blogger who ran the giveaway was great at keeping me up to date
Eurocamp Goody Bags
Both Brooke and I received goody bags containing lots of lovely little knick kacks (think colouring pencils, puzzles, yo-yo for Brooke and bottle opener, pens, notebooks for me) thanks to getting our competition entry in early. You had to draw your favourite holiday memory and the first 15 entries submitted automatically got goody bags.
Flights to anywhere in Europe x 2!
Thanks to the Pringles on pack promotion both my husband and myself won flights worth up to £300 to anywhere in Europe! I kept forgetting to enter and my husband was even worse barely entering but somehow we both ended up being lucky in the prize draw. To enter you had to upload a picture of you with a pringle using #PringlesTakeABite
Chessington VIP Animal Experience
I try to do daily searches for all of the UK theme parks searching for competitions, and I stumbled across Chessington on Facebook running a one day competition to celebrate world zoo day. To enter you had to tell them what you loved about zoos and why you wanted to visit and they would pick their favourite answer to win. I was the first to comment on the post and decided to write a poem (which I’m so bad at its unreal). I was delighted to find out the next day that I had been selected as the winner. My prize is booked and I’m so excited that I’m going to be taking my eldest step daughter to feed and play with the big cats at Chessington!
Odeon Cinema Tickets
Another on pack promotion win. I’ve only entered a few times as I’m trying to reduce the amount of processed foods we eat in our house. On our second text entry we won a pair of odeon cinema tickets!
£50 Joe Browns Voucher
A simple Instagram competition where you had to count the number of hidden bird in a photograph. I’ve not decided what to spend my voucher on yet but I’m swaying between a new pair of sandals and maybe even a dress (shock horror I barely ever wear dresses!). At the time of writing this blog post they were running another similar competition on their instagram
PCOS pen bundle
I scaled back from comping during national stationery week and was a quite lax with searching to find competitions to enter. However I still was the lucky winner of a lovely bundle of mellow yellow PCOS pens thanks to uniball on Twitter with a RT to win competition
Aquabead Starter Set
A fab little win for Brooke who loves aquabeads! We won their starter set thanks to a like and comment instagram competition. I’ve entered so many aquabeads competitions over the past few years and was so pleased to finally win one!
Family Ticket to DC Superhero exhibit at the O2
Another one crossed off the wish list! As soon as I saw this had come to the O2 I set up a search folder on my bookmarks bar so I could with one click open up a window with searches for competitions on Facebook, Twitter and google. I only found one competition – but as it turns out I won it! So thanks to Visit Greenwich on Twitter we will be checking out the DC superhero exhibition at the O2!
Union Jack Bubble Bum Seat
A patriotic giveaway thanks to the birth of Prince Louis birth on St George’s day. You had to comment on the Facebook post with your favourite place to visit in the UK. As we had just got back from a lovely holiday in Somerset I uploaded one of our pics from holiday. Brooke’s a little too short currently for the bubble bum seat but I’m actually so tempted to use it for myself as I could actually do with a cushion to sit on when driving!
I also received
- A Benecos eyeshadow from Bencos, like and comment on Facebook
- Guinness Book of World Records science edition plus lab coat, a web entry form on the Guinness World Records site
- Essy Naturals vitamin C serum, like and comment on Instagram
- Hessian shopping bag from one water, show a picture of you recycling on Twitter

This Months booby Prize
So the worst prize i won this month goes to my £15 Sweaty Betty Voucher win from Form Nutrition on Instagram. I was super pleased to win – but not so pleased when my voucher arrived. First off it was store specific – Kings Cross in London. I’m lucky enough to be only 17 minutes away on the train from Kings Cross so that’s not too bad if I was up in London I could spend it. However the expiry date on it was one day after I had received the prize. The promoter had failed to mention his on the competition and when i messaged them they didn’t even realise they were store specific and had expiry dates! Currently the promoter is looking into it for me but I’ve got the feeling i might just need to write this one off!
Looking forward to the (hopefully) warmer weather May will bring and I’m expecting to see lots of outdoor and garden orientated competitions popping up more often in my searches. The first week of the month is National Gardening Week and we also have the most important day of the year coming up – Star Wars Day!!! I’m hoping that I’ll have time to grab some creative photos with Dan in his Stormtrooper costume to use for this years competitions! Hoping you all had a great April and good luck everyone for May!
